Begin in Mikumi National Park, known for its open plains and easy wildlife viewing—perfect for spotting elephants, lions, giraffes, and zebras. Then venture into the vast wilderness of Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous), Africa’s largest protected reserve, where boat safaris, walking tours, and game drives reveal hippos, crocodiles, and rare birdlife.

You will be picked up from the airport, hotel, or ferry and driven to Mikumi National Park, which is approximately a 6-hour drive. You'll stop in Morogoro for lunch and proceed to Mikumi National Park. On arrival in the park, you will immediately start an afternoon-to-evening game drive. You will return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay at Mikumi Bandas.

Camp Bastian Mikumi - Mid-range lodge located just outside Mikumi NP
You'll have an early morning game drive in Mikumi. You will then have breakfast and drive to Selous (Nyerere National Park). On arrival, you will enjoy lunch and then start with an evening boat safari along the mighty Rufiji River. You will discover the Rufiji River by boat and encounter hippos and crocodiles in good numbers. Some 350 species of birds have been recorded in Selous. These are typical of the Miombo woodlands, and the birdlife supported by the Rufiji swamp lands is particularly interesting. You will have dinner and an overnight stay at Mloka Safari Lodge.

Mloka Safari Lodge—Budget lodge located less than a 1-hr drive from Nyerere NP
After breakfast, you'll go for a full-day game drive with packed lunch boxes in Selous. You will enjoy a picnic lunch at the site the guide will select. After your picnic lunch and some relaxation, you'll continue the game drive until the evening. Your dinner and your overnight stay are at Mloka Safari Lodge.
Mloka Safari Lodge—Budget lodge located less than a 1-hr drive from Nyerere NP
You'll start the day with a morning walking safari, which takes around two and a half hours. You'll return to your camp and have breakfast. You will then relax a bit and enjoy the environment of the lodge. After that, you'll drive back to Dar es Salaam.
On arrival in Dar es Salaam, you will be dropped off at the airport for your flight back home, the hotel, or the ferry to Zanzibar or Mafia Island.
